In BaZi, your life is divided into 10-year Luck Pillars (大运). Each pillar is a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch that govern a decade of your life. When your Luck Pillar changes — which happens at ages determined by your birth chart — the elemental rules of your life change with it.

Reading Your Current Pillar

The Stem and Branch of your Luck Pillar interact with your Day Master. A Luck Pillar that produces your Day Master (Resource cycle) brings learning, mentorship, and support. A Luck Pillar that your Day Master controls (Wealth cycle) brings financial focus and material opportunity. A Luck Pillar that controls your Day Master (Officer cycle) brings pressure, responsibility, and — if you handle it — advancement.

Why Some People Peak at Different Ages

A person with a strong Wealth Luck Pillar in their 20s may build significant resources young. A person whose Wealth Pillar activates in their 50s may struggle financially early but retire wealthy. Neither is ahead or behind. They are just running different life schedules.

Within each 10-year pillar, every individual year has its own Stem-Branch combination. 2026 is 丙午 (Yang Fire Horse). If Fire feeds your Day Master, this year supports you. If Fire clashes with your chart, expect a year of friction — which is not failure, just resistance training.
